Ben Gwilliam

Ben Gwilliam is an artist whose work spans sound, film, installation and performance. His practice uses the mechanics of media to reflect on the contexts for reception. His curiosity about sound-making tests how abstract/descriptive situations are for materials, such parallels and similarities being relationships in time and space. As he is motivated by constructs of sound and image, he both speculates and mirrors music. He has exhibited & performed internationally, including La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Cornerhouse, Manchester; Artists Unlimited, Bielefeld; Modern Art Oxford; and FACT, Liverpool.  Ben’s output spans many labels & publishers, and he has work in international collections, covering electrified lightbulbs, magnetics and a clear sheet of ice as a vinyl record.
